Sindicato estadounidense que agrupa a los trabajadores de la industria del acero, del aluminio y metalúrgica.
Tuvo su origen en el Comité organizador de los trabajadores del acero, creado en 1936 por el Comité de organización industrial (
ver AFL-CIO), y en la Federación de trabajadores de la industria del hierro, acero y estaño. Se transformó en un poderoso sindicato presidido por Philip Murray. El Comité organizador de los trabajadores del acero pasó a ser el sindicato United Steelworkers of America. Fue presidido por Murray hasta su muerte en 1952. En 1944, el sindicato incorporó a los trabajadores de la industria del aluminio y a mediados de la década de 1950 tenía más de un millón de miembros. Logró beneficios sin precedentes en el período de la posguerra, pero desde la década de 1970, su poder y número de miembros empezaron a disminuir al contraerse la industria del acero estadounidense.
